Emergency Management

Amherst County Emergency Management is a continuous operation. While most often the visible nature of emergency management (EM) is during and after a major incident, staff are constantly working to prevent and prepare for future emergencies.

The Chief of ACFE is designated by Amherst County code to be the Emergency Management Coordinator. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing all phases of the EM process.

While emergency management is an ACFE primary function, in times of emergency situations, all members of the Amherst County government may play a role in response, including staffing shelters, assisting with supply drops, managing financial expenditures, etc.
