Amherst County’s award winning Fire Training Center is located in the Town of Amherst and provides a centralized training location for all of our fire departments.
This facility includes:
- A 3 story, 1,400 square foot burn building
- Rappelling tower off of third floor
- Roof Ventilation simulator on top of the first floor of burn building
- Utilities simulator
- Car fire simulator
- 320 square foot SCBA/search maze
- Storage building
Prior to this facility, personnel and trucks would have to go to a neighboring jurisdiction, taking vital resources out of their response areas. However, with the implementation of this facility, volunteers and career staff can train together in Amherst County and remain available to respond to the needs of our community.
