Professional Profile

I was elected to serve as Supervisor in November 2015 and began my term on January 1, 2016.

Jimmy Ayers has over 30 years of public service to Amherst County.  He began his public service career in 1985 as a deputy and was elected as Sheriff in 1995, taking office in 1996.  He served as Sheriff until 2015, when he retired.  He has dedicated his life to making the county a safer and better place for all to live.

"My past 20 years as a Constitutional Officer working with businesses and citizens all over the County, has made me appreciate Amherst County even more as well as, allowed me to better understand how the county operates.   As your Supervisor, I will seek to serve my district as well as the entire County and bring about sensible change. I will work with County government to bring in new industry, businesses, and improve the housing development efforts here.   It is important to preserve and promote the beauty of Amherst County and I will work diligently toward this effort.”

Jimmy is a member of the AF & AM Clinton Lodge #73 and the John Lynch Fraternal Order of Police.  A resident of District 3 for the past 18 years, Jimmy is married to Nancy Ayers and has 2 children. He and his family are members of Madison Heights Baptist Church.
